At Black Hat last week, researchers revealed a new hacking technique called BREACH that enables attackers to snag SSL-secured Web application data, including login tokens and session ID numbers. The reseachers dubbed their presentation "SSL, Gone in 30 Seconds," because 30 seconds is about how long it would take a would-be malicious attackers to pull off the hack. Read More

NAND flash sales -- and prices -- surge
Sales of NAND flash technology rose 11 percent from the first to second quarters this year, and 30 percent for the year ending June 30, even as prices have surged. For instance, the price of a 64Gb NAND flash chip rose from $3.69 earlier this year to a high of $7.50 today, according to market research firm TrendForce. Read More
