Update: ITC orders import ban on older iPhones, iPads in Samsung patent dispute
Apple infringed a Samsung Electronics patent, the U.S. International Trade Commission said in a final judgment that bans import into the U.S. of certain AT&T iPhone and iPad models: the iPhone 3G (which is no longer sold), 3G S, and 4, and the cellular versions of the first-gen iPad (also no longer sold) and iPad 2. Apple has said it would appeal the decision in federal court. Later versions of the iPhone (the 4S and 5) and iPad (third- and fourth-gen, and Mini) are unaffected by the ruling. Read More

The update to OS X 10.8.4 -- the first from Apple since mid-March -- was accompanied by security-only updates for both OS X 10.7, aka Lion, and OS X 10.6, better known as Snow Leopard. Read More

Fujitsu 'world's thinnest' laptop has 11-hour battery, three times Full HD
Fujitsu will this month launch a super-thin Ultrabook, built on Intel's latest Haswell processors, with an 11-hour battery life and a screen with nearly three times HD resolution. The company said the new "UH90/L" model from its Lifebook line will be the world's thinnest for a laptop with a hard disk drive, measuring 15.5 mm at its thickest point. It will mark Fujitsu's entry into the quickly growing ranks of PCs built around Haswell processors, which boast slightly improved performance along with reduced power requirements. Read More

Java users woefully tardy on patching
Java has been a jackpot for hackers in recent months and an analysis of its users released Tuesday suggests why that's so. More than 50 percent of Java users are running a version of the program that's more than two years old, according to the analysis based on more than one billion endpoints monitored by Websense Security Lab.
