As Congress considers more H-1B visas, U.S. tech workers struggle to find work
Many tech companies have called for the U.S. Congress to ease restrictions on high-skill immigration because they can't find qualified tech workers to fill open positions. Yet many veteran IT tech workers say they can't find jobs. More than a dozen veteran IT workers, contacted through the Programmers Guild and high-skill immigration critic Norm Matloff, a computer science professor at the University of California at Davis, say they can't find jobs, with many pointing to a glut of cheap workers available through the H-1B visa program. U.S. mobile data traffic grew 69 percent last year
U.S. mobile networks carried 69 percent more data traffic in 2012 than in the prior year, but roughly the same number of voice minutes and fewer SMS messages, according to the industry group CTIA. The findings came from a semi-annual survey by the organization, which represents the nation's mobile operators. The results released Thursday covered the full year 2012. Read More

BlackBerry 10 cleared for use on US Department of Defense networks
The U.S. Department of Defense has cleared BlackBerry 10 smartphones and PlayBook tablets for use on its networks, amid reports that the department may also clear devices from Samsung Electronics and Apple. The department has approved BlackBerry 10 smartphones and PlayBook tablets with its enterprise mobility management platform BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 to be used on its networks, BlackBerry said Thursday.
