Microsoft has access issues with Hotmail, Outlook, SkyDrive services
Microsoft experienced disruptions for several hours to its online suite of mail, calendar and storage services, leaving many users unable to access their accounts. The problems occurred Tuesday evening in the U.S. Microsoft posted a series of status updates for its Outlook and Hotmail services showing the issues in its online email were unresolved nearly four hours after they were first flagged. Ubuntu Linux gets a new official flavor
Ubuntu fans may recall Ubuntu Gnome Remix, the unofficial flavor of the Linux distribution that was launched last fall for users not fond of the software's default Unity desktop environment. Following hard on the heels of the release of Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal," the new Gnome Remix version was created "to bring the best of Gnome to Ubuntu users," in the words of its developers. Well, this week the new flavor was made an official part of the Ubuntu Linux family, giving it full access to infrastructure support, publicity, and other benefits from Canonical and the Ubuntu community. Microsoft to roll out Windows Store app patches quickly
Microsoft will release security updates for applications in its Windows Store as those patches are available in order to speed up the updating process. The policy will apply to applications that are preinstalled on Windows 8 but updated through the Windows Store, such as Mail, wrote Mike Reavey, senior director of the Microsoft Security Response Center, part of the company's Trustworthy Computing group. HTC One release pushed to April, risks conflict with Galaxy S4 launch
HTC's new One smartphone will arrive later than expected, and could lose any time-to-market advantage over Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S4 handset. The Taiwanese handset maker had originally planned to release its flagship smartphone globally in March. But on Wednesday, the company said in an email, "We will start fulfilling pre-orders by end March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April." Read More

Google acquires startup focused on neural networks
Google has acquired a startup from the computer science department of the University of Toronto to get key researchers in the area of deep neural networks. The Internet company acquired DNNresearch, which was set up last year by Professor Geoffrey Hinton and two of his graduate students, Alex Krizhevsky and Ilya Sutskever, the University of Toronto said on Tuesday.
