With its sights sets on the emerging software-define data center, network security company Palo Alto Networks today unveiled products aimed at helping IT admins better fend off threats to increasingly virtualized, cloud-connected environments. SAP promises '360-degree' view of customer with HANA-powered CRM platform
SAP is tying the HANA in-memory database to its CRM (customer relationship management) software and other applications, creating a package that will "allow organizations to revolutionize the way they engage with their customers," the company announced Tuesday during the Sapphire and Tech Ed conferences in Madrid. Dubbed SAP 360 Customer, the offering will deliver "transaction, text and analytics processing on one platform," Vishal Sikka, executive board member and technology chief, said in a statement. HP tweaks Windows 8 downgrade policy
Hewlett-Packard has twice revised its message to customers about downgrading new PCs equipped with Windows 8 to the older Windows 7 in an attempt to clarify its position. In the revisions, HP left open whether it would provide drivers to consumer customers who want to downgrade. Microsoft, Google to do battle over patent royalty rates
Microsoft and Motorola Mobility will face off in court on Tuesday for the start of a patent trial that could help establish how royalty rates are calculated for standards-essential patents. Microsoft sued Motorola's smartphone division, which is now part of Google, two years ago, claiming it demanded an unreasonable royalty rate for the use of its patents related to the 802.11 wireless and H.264 video standards.
