Microsoft readies fix for Windows Phone 8 random reboots
Microsoft plans to issue an over-the-air fix next month for a problem that has caused some Windows Phone 8 handsets to reboot themselves unexpectedly. Hundreds of users of the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X smartphones have reported on Internet forums that their phones were repeatedly and spontaneously rebooting. The reports identified several different mobile operators in the U.S. and Europe. The forums didn't identify a consistent culprit for the problem. Read More

Tuesday afternoon, Windows business chief Tami Reller told an audience of analysts that Microsoft had sold 40 million licenses for its new operating system, Windows 8. A few minutes later, that same claim was repeated on the Windows 8 blog. That seems to be faster than the rate of sales for Windows 7. Apple gets sales ban on some Samsung Galaxy products in the Netherlands
A Dutch court has banned sales of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy products that infringe on an Apple patent describing a way to scroll through a photo gallery using a touchscreen. The ban only applies to Galaxy products that run Android 2.2.1 and higher that don't use Samsung's proprietary photo gallery software, the Court of The Hague ruled on Wednesday. Read More

Nokia seeks to block sale of most RIM phones
Nokia has asked a California court to enforce an arbitration award that would prevent Research In Motion from selling products with wireless LAN capabilities until the companies can agree on patent royalty rates. Nokia and RIM both declined to comment on Nokia's request, a copy of which was obtained by IDG News Service, but such a filing is typically made after two parties settle a dispute through arbitration but one party does not follow through on the agreement.
