Office Web Apps upgrade offers better iPad experience An upgrade of Microsoft's Office Web Apps has been finalized, and a combination of enhancements makes this Web-hosted Office version work much better on iPads than previous iterations. As a result, Microsoft, which has been reticent to create a full-featured Office version for iOS, may be able to at least appease unhappy users who want to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote on their iPads. Read More U.S. government agency drops BlackBerry in favor of iPhone Over 17,600 users in U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) are being moved from their BlackBerry devices to Apple's iPhone, after it was found that technology from Research In Motion cannot meet the mobile technology needs of the agency, according to contract documents. The contract for iPhone smartphones and services which was awarded on Sept. 28 was made public last week. Gartner says in a report coming out later this week that 90 percent of enterprises will bypass wholesale deployment of Windows 8 at least through 2014.
