Survey: IT casts its lot with Microsoft's coming mobile platforms
Almost half of IT managers in a survey last month said that they plan to standardize their company's mobile platform on devices running Microsoft operating systems, including smartphone OSes Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8 and the tablet OS Windows RT, according to ThinkEquity, a research and institutional investment banking services firm. Wix.com launches apps market
HTML5 Web publishing platform Wix.com will launch an app market Tuesday for selling of third-party applications built with the company's automated Web development technology. Called Wix App Market, the platform also enables customers to integrate applications from the market with their own websites. Read More

NetApp adds clustering technology to OpenStack
NetApp has contributed Data ONTAP 8 Clustering drivers to OpenStack, giving service providers and enterprises better resources when building private and public clouds based on the platform, it said on Monday. The addition of drivers for Data ONTAP 8 Clustering to OpenStack Folsom, the latest version of the open source cloud platform, allows organizations to automate management of NetApp storage pools, or clusters, and to scale the cloud infrastructure. That will in turn allow enterprises to increase storage efficiency and reduce disk and power needs, the company said. Read More

Cisco adds to cloud collaboration services its hosting partners can offer
Cisco on Tuesday announced that it is increasing the number of collaboration software products that its hosting partners can offer via the cloud, hoping to make the bundles more attractive to the partners and their customers. At an announcement at its Collaboration Summit in Los Angeles, Cisco also said that it will provide its cloud-based WebEx web conferencing product for the first time as packaged software that customers can deploy on-premise or in a private cloud. Citrix lets users access PCs and Macs from Kindle Fire
Citrix Systems has released an enhanced GoToMyPC app for Android devices allowing anyone with an Android phone or tablet, including Amazon's Kindle Fire family, to access their Internet-connected Mac or PC over a mobile network. Features of the app include a 300 percent zoom, support for multitasking and full keyboard functionality, including keys like Alt, Ctrl, and Tab. On PCs, users can also lock the keyboard and blank the screen on the computer they access. Read More
