Microsoft's workaround for zero-day IE vulnerability may not be effective

Microsoft raises Office 2013 prices to push new Office 365 sub plans
Microsoft this week raised prices of its Office suite by as much as 17 percent and eliminated multi-license packs, all part of a plan to push consumers and small businesses toward new subscription programs, analysts said. On Monday, Microsoft unveiled pricing for Office 2013, the next version of its suite sold as a perpetual license, and for two new plans in the by-subscription Office 365 lineup. Read More

Heroku entices enterprise Java developers with cloud platform
Salesforce.com subsidiary Heroku today is launching a PaaS (platform-as-a-service) cloud option for Java developers that is intended to make it easier to deploy Web applications on the Heroku cloud platform. Developers will able to package applications as WAR (Java Web Archive) files. Applications can be built and deployed in minutes instead of months, the company claims. Read More

Samsung increases future smartphone storage capacity to 128GB
Samsung Electronics' semiconductor arm has begun volume production of 128GB embedded memory modules for next-generation smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices, the company said on Tuesday. An upgrade to 128GB would double or quadruple the storage capacity compared to today's high-end smartphones. Apple's new iPhone 5 has up to 64GB of integrated storage while the recently announced Optimus G from LG Electronics and Nokia's Lumia 920 both have 32GB. Read More
