SAP gets tough on violation of software use terms
A recent crackdown by SAP AG on companies that it considers are indirectly accessing its software without paying for it could spell trouble for some longstanding customers of the software vendor, an analyst firm said this week. Under SAP's licensing terms, an indirect access scenario occurs when a company's employees or business partners, who are not licensed SAP users, accesses SAP software via a third-party application interface. Judge declines to eject Google's 'fair use' defense from Android trial
Oracle was dealt a minor setback in its lawsuit against Google on Wednesday when a judge denied its motion to toss out one of Google's key defenses against copyright infringement. A jury on Monday found Google had infringed Oracle's copyrights on the APIs (application programming interfaces) in Java, but was unable to agree on whether that infringement was protected by "fair use," which allows for copying under certain circumstances. Apple patches Safari, blocks outdated Flash Player
Apple on Wednesday patched four security vulnerabilities in Safari and blocked outdated versions of Adobe's Flash Player from running in its browser. The Flash blocking move was similar to one Apple made last month when it stopped the Java plug-in from launching automatically. Read More
