A couple of muggers targeting Columbia students in upper Manhattan were quite picky about which smartphones they would deign to steal, NBC's Katy Tur reports.

The thieves assaulted a pair of students on 114th Street and demanded they hand over their iPhones.

One student did so, but the other student only had a Droid. The thieves sniffed at that and took cash instead.

Another woman the thieves accosted said they didn't believe her when she said she didn't have an iPhone and threw her against a wall.

Another student was apparently insulted that the thieves didn't want her BlackBerry.
