Apple is working on a 3G version of the iPod Touch, according to AppleNApps.

(The blog post is down now due to a hosting error.)

The site credits an unnamed source for this info, but also warns that 3G may not make it into the final version of the iPod Touch.

We're highly skeptical of this rumor. You should be too. But because it sounds like a logical next step for the iPod Touch, it's at least worth mentioning.

And it's nice to dream, right? Imagine an iPod Touch that is essentially an iPhone without a SIM card. Instead of burning minutes from AT&T or Verizon, you can make Wi-Fi or VoIP calls using an app like Talkatone.

iPod Touch rumors are few and far between. So far, the most credible information we have is this spy shot of a white iPod Touch case.
