The importance of meetings ...

Recently a friend of mine went to a meeting sponsored by his MLM. A couple dozen people showed up. There were a few small groups that knew each other or were related, but by and large there was a mix of different people in different lines.

The plan was to do a quick around-the-room introduction of everyone that attended and move on to the agenda for the evening. They started with the gentleman that was hosting the event and moved on to my friend and through the rest of the room.

Ten minutes after the meeting was supposed to have ended, they finally got to the last person's introduction.

People did not just introduce themselves and move on. People told their stories. There were stories of success and stories of challenges. There were stories about family and there were product stories. Once one person started telling a story and someone else had a way to relate, a conversation would start about that particular issue.

There was a lot of head nodding around the room because they could generally all relate to each other in some way.

The biggest thing my friend took from the meeting was being surrounded and encouraged by successful, like-minded people. For once he was not surrounded by nineteen people telling him he was crazy and a pariah with only that one person in his business telling him that he was on the right track. All of the sudden, the ratio was completely reversed.

The meeting was refreshing and gave him the ambition and strength to start the week off stronger than he otherwise would have. He is now ready to work on building his business tomorrow and the next day. And by the time he gets frustrated and discouraged going into next week, there will be another meeting and a room full of people reminding him why he is doing what he is doing.

The meeting does seem to be one of the magical ingredients of network marketing. He could not really grasp the power of it before seeing it and experiencing it in person. He is already looking forward to next week.
